Fire Safety Tips

  • IN CASE OF ANY EMERGENCY DIAL 911.
    - Please DO NOT be scared to dial 911, it is always better to be safe than sorry.
  • Make sure you not only have smoke detectors on AT LEAST every level, but you check them weekly to make sure they work.
    - If you do not have a smoke detector, then CLICK HERE.
  • Have a fire escape plan with at least two exits out of every room in the house. Remember when there is a fire it's too late to plan how to get out.
  • Never smoke in bed or when you are very tired inside your house.
  • Keep matches, lighters, and flammable liquids away from kids.
  • Make sure that your house or apartment number is clearly visible to the fire department.
  • If you are having trouble with an electrical or gas appliance/ service line, contact the fire department - DO NOT ignore problems with these items.
  • If an electric cord is worn out replace it, or if an outlet is overloaded fix the problem by moving some of the load to other outlets.
  • WATCH SPACE HEATERS. Make sure they are kept away from a combustible.
  • If your house is on fire or if your in a smoke filled room, get down and cover your face. Crawl out of the house via the nearest exit. DO NOT GO BACK IN. Immediately call the fire department.
  • Install a Carbon Monoxide Detector on at least every level of your house. If it sounds, get out of your house and dial 911.
