Smoke Detector Program

Smoke detectors are among one of the most important life safety devices in your household in the prevention of deaths as a result of fire. Smoke detectors save countless people each year. This is why the city offers FREE smoke detectors to it's residents.

Made possible by the New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) and the National Smoke Alarm For Every Home (S.A.F.E) Foundation's grant of 200 smoke detectors on September 1, 2005, the program hopes to have at least one smoke detector in every residence in the city.

If you are a city resident that is interested in a free smoke detector and also to have a city firefighter install it for you, than contact:

City Fire Headquarters by either,
1. Calling Us: 845.831.1334
2. E-Mailing Us: BeaconFD@BeaconFD.org
