BEACON (01 Jan 01) - At about 2:45AM the City of Beacon Fire Department and Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corp. were dispatched to a report of a basement fire at 310 South Ave. Upon arrival of Ladder 1 (33-45), he reported heavy smoke coming from the basement. A 2nd alarm was then immediately requested by Chief 33-1 for manpower. Rescue 1 (33-55) and Village of Fishkill Engine 2 (42-12) responded to the scene. In addition Glenham and Village of Fishkill responded to cover Beacon's stations. The fire took approximately 15 minutes to control and was confined to the basement of the large 1.5 story house. One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was transported to St. Lukes Hospital. No other injuries were reported.
