BEACON (5 June 06)
- Monday started out early with a 3:30am dumpster fire and was followed up by a first due house fire at 6:30am. At that time a full first alarm was transmitted for a reported structure fire at 30 South Cedar Street. Upon arrival of Tower Ladder 33-45, the company reported smoke showing and a confirmed fire. The second due engine, Engine 33-11, layed in and streched two hand lines into the building. Crews used one of the hand lines to quickly confine the fire to one bedroom and knock it down, while the truck company opened up.
The room and contents fire was investigated by the City of Beacon Fire Investigation Unit, who determined the cause of the fire to be Arson in relation to an earlier fight between the owner and a roomate. The roomate has been arrested and charged with the apparent arson.
