BEACON (24 September 06)
- Despite rain showers and overcast weather, the festivities still went on for Beacon Day 2006. Beacon's firefighters started out the day with the events annual parade down Main Street and then it's traditional demonstrations.
Located at its booth at Main and Eliza Streets, the Beacon firefighter's informed the public of fire safety through a hand full of activities. Firefighters performed fire extinguisher demonstrations, a fire safety trailer was on hand for kids to practice getting out of a fire, and personnel from Beacon's Bravest were handing out safety brochures to the public on the streets.
In addition to providing public education, firefighters demonstrated their abilities through numerous demonstrations. Firefighters repelled from Tower Ladder 33-45's bucket to show their technical rescue abilities. They also performed a full auto extrication to show their extrication training and newly purchased rescue equipment.
