BEACON (11 November 06) - The City finally took delivery of it's much needed new rescue. The new 2006 Pierce Heavy-Duty Rescue replaces the city's much outdated 1987 Pierce Medium-Duty Rescue. The second generation rescue for the city brings the department up to date to handle the ever increasing amount of alarms, as well as the expanding range of calls.
The new rescue features a state-of-the-art 6 man cab with two Jaws of Life Tools mounted on the front bumper to allow safer operation of the tools on busy highways such as Interstate 84 and the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge. The rig also features a large generator, 6,000-watt Will-Burt Light Tower, electronic awning, and breathing air cascade system. The one-half million dollar investment by the city, has given it's citizens the most state-of-the-art rescue rig in the region along with the most advance tools.
The pictures of the new rig along with the old rescue were taken at the city's beautiful riverfront park. The pictures feature the Newburgh-Beacon bridge in the background. They also feature Beacon's sister city across the Hudson, Newburgh.
