BEACON (8 April 2007) - At 5:20pm a first alarm was transmitted for a reported apartment fire at 487 South Ave sending Engine 33-11, Engine 33-12, and Tower Ladder 33-45 to the scene. Upon arrival of Car 33-1 (Chief Joseph), he reported nothing visible and that companies would be investigating. Once the companies arrived and investigated further, they found a smoke condition in the halls with fire in the loft area of an apartment.

Companies then quickly evacuated the apartment building and placed one attack hoseline into operation to knock down the fire. The chief then notified county that he was using all hands for a fire in the first floor of a 50 x 50 three story brick occupied apartment building. The fire took approximately 10 minutes to bring under control and was confined to the loft area of the apartment.

Glenham Engine 43-11 was special called above the first alarm to cover the city. The fire is currently undetermined, however electrical in nature and being investigated by the City Fire Investigation Unit.
