BEACON (4 July 2007) - The Fourth of July Holiday was a steady one with six runs on the day. The last one of the day, however was a roll-over with entrapment. At about 10:30pm, Rescue 33-55 and Engine 33-11 were dispatched for a reported one car roll-over with entrapment on Fishkill Ave, near Deleavan Ave. Upon arrival of the companies, they found one car that had struck a guard rail, rolled into a ditch, finally coming to rest between the guard rail and a pole. The companies also found the vehicle to be occupied by one person who was heavily entrapped and in critical condition.

Incident Command, Car 33-1 (Chief Joseph), requested a medevac due to the condition of the victim. However due to the weather conditions, the medevac was grounded. So the companies stabilized the vehicle on it's side with air struts and then removed the roof of the vehicle with the Jaws of Life.

The victim was extricated from the vehicle in about 15 minutes and transported on ground via Beacon Volunteer Ambulance and a paramedic from Alamo EMS.
