BEACON (10 July 2007) - At around 1:30pm Dutchess 911 County Dispatch started receiving numerous calls for a reported jumper down off the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge. Dutchess 911 transmitted a jumper down call to numerous departments in the area and assigned Rescue 33-55 to launch Marine 33-99 to attempt a search for a victim.

Upon arrival of the company, they quickly immobilized and launched from the city harbor and took the marine unit to the bridge in about 10 minutes. Upon arrival the boat attempted an area search for the victim along with various other marine units in the area with negative results.

The victim was recovered the day after on the shore of our sister city, Newburgh. The victim was fatally injured from the 100 feet plus jump.
