BEACON (30 September 2007) - At around 2:30am, Engine 33-12 and Tower Ladder 33-45 (EMS Support) were dispatched for a reported stabbing at apartment 103 in Tompkins Terrace Apartments. While enroute, county updated units that this was a possible shooting with callers reporting shots fired in the area and an odor of something burning. Upon arrival, units stagged away until city police secured the scene. Once the scene was secured, units assesed one male victim with a shotgun wound to the chest. The subject was obviously expired and the odor of something buring was the blast from the shotgun. The scene was then turned over to city police for the homicide investigation.
