BEACON (23 March 2007) - The City of Beacon was proud to be the host for the City of Beacon Multi-Discipline Domestic Preparedness Exercise located at Station 2's assembly hall. The tabletop command exercise was coordinated by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), the agency responsible for New York City and it's Suburbs transportation including the Metro-North Railroad which services our city.

The exercise was a command exercise of a domestic terrorism event in our city. With nearly 150 representatives from numerous agencies, a lot was learned through the exercise about our regions capabilities.

Agencies from several local and county emergency service agencies and governments; NYS Police; MTA Police; FBI; US Department of Homeland Security; City, County, and State OEM; County Health Department & Coroners Office; Red Cross, New York State Bridge Authority were some of the many agencies who participated in this very important drill.
