BEACON (08 May 00) - On Monday, May 8, 2000, at 13:54, City of Beacon FD along with Beacon Volunteer Ambulance were dispatched to a possible structure fire at The Bridge Inn on Rt. 9D. Upon arrival, heavy smoke was issuing from the eaves of the roof of the 3 story boarding house. Due to the high temperatures, a second alarm was called bringing mutual aid from Rombout & Village of Fishkill to the scene and Glenham for standby. Approximately 50 firefighters battled the blaze for nearly one hour which left 25 people homeless. The cause of blaze was electrical in nature.
