BEACON (4 April 2009) - Each year, Beacon's three fire companies host their own banquets to celebrate the achievements of that company for the year. Also during this time, 25 year and 50 year members are awarded for their service. One of the most rare honors is a 50 Year Active Member, one who remains an active firefighter for 50 years. This year Lou Amoroso, Sr was awarded this award at Mase Hook and Ladder's Banquet

Lou joined Mase in 1959 and remained active in the company for the past 50 years as an active interior firefighter. Lou was awarded a gold watch for his 50 year membership, however he was also awarded with an axe for those years being as an active member.
