Newburgh (9 Sept 02) - On Monday, September 9, 2002 at about 4:00PM, the Good-Will Fire Department was dispatched to a fire in the Jehovah Witness Conference Center located in Newburgh, NY (Orange County). Upon arrival there was heavy fire in the cockloft (area between the roof and the drop down ceiling) of a 300x200 building under construction. There were multiple mutual aid companies from Orange, Ulster, and Dutchess Counties for manpower due to the heat and heavy seat of the fire. Over five firefighters were injured and transported to area hospitals. Six Arial ladders were used to fight the fire. Over 200 firefighters were at the scene with over 25 pieces of equipment. City of Beacon was called on the 5th Alarm as a FAST team.
