BEACON (31 July 2010) - At around 5pm, a first alarm was transmitted for a structure fire with 4 people trapped on the 2nd floor at 149 Main Street. Upon arrival of Car 33-1, Car 1 (Chief Joseph), he reported smoke showing and observed a person jump from the second story window.

Shortly after Engine 33-12 and Tower Ladder 33-45 arrived and the fire was located in the hallway of the main entrance to the 3 story brick multiple dwelling. The fire was confined to a child stroller in the hallway and was extinguished by the building's newly installed sprinkler system during renovation. The fire did charge the above two floors of apartments with heavy smoke and companies assisted the persons out of the building while it was being ventialted.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and is suspicious in nature,
