BEACON (10 September 06) - The Beacon Professional Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 3490, raised about $4,300 to benefit the MDA The annual fund raiser is conducted by firefighter unions throughout the country to benefit Muscular Dystrophy and the MDA. Each year the IAFF raises around $20 Million to benefit this great cause.

So far Beacon's paid firefighters have raised about $15,000 in the past few years. Each year around September, members volunteer their time to participate in a two day Fill-The-Boot event in the city to raise the funds.

The Beacon Professional Firefighters would like to thank all the citizens who helped donate this year. Your donations have helped thousands of people with this debilitating disease. They would also like to thank the volunteer firefighters who helped out, as well as Pleasant Ridge Pizza and Kennedy Fried Chicken for their donation of food for the members.
