BEACON (1 October 2010) - The City of Beacon Fire Department has been in existance longer than the city itself. Peaking in performance and manpower in 1970s, the department has continued into a steady downfall since then. Accelerated around the early 2000s, the department now is in a critical state. As a result of this alarming position, the city has contracted MMA Consulting Group to survey the department and make recommendations to improve on manpower, performance, and general organization.
The report was recently released and outlines many changes to improve upon the department.
