BEACON (16 October 2010) - At around 6am, County 911 received phone calls from numerous passengers on a New York City bound MTA Passenger Train for a reported fire on board. County then ascertained the fire was in the locomotive and it has stopped in the Beacon station. Engine 33-12 was dispatched for a reported locomotive fire. Upon of the engine, a full first alarm was requested for a fully-involved locomotive fire.
Engine 33-11 and Tower Ladder 33-45 were then called to the scene. Shortly after an Engine, Glenham Engine 43-11, was special called to cover the city. Upon arrival of the companies, they found fire blowing 30 feet into the air as a result of it being feed by the train's diesel.
(2) 1 3/4 lines were stretched at that point to the locomotive through an access gate. One line was used to control and extinguish the fire which was confined to the engine compartment of the locomotive.
