BEACON (21 October 2010) - Rescue 33-55 and Engine 33-11 were dispatched to the construction site at 10 Leonard Street for a person who fell approximately 40 feet. The person was working on the roof of a vacant factory building under renovation for a new hotel facility. Upon arrival of Engine 33-11, they found a male on the ground in critical condition with serious traumatic injuries. A medevac was immediately requested and Engine 33-11 was reassigned to establishing a landing zone in the field of Forrestal Elementary School.

While establishing the landing zone, command was advised that regional medevac could not fly due to high wind hazards. As a result the patient was packaged and ground transported to the area trauma center, St Francis Hospital Level II Trauma Center.
