BEACON (11 May 00) - On Thursday, May 11, 2000, at 22:41, City of Beacon FD along with Beacon Volunteer Ambulance were dispatched to a possible structure fire at the intersection of Verplanck Avenue and North Elm Street. Upon arrival of 33-12, heavy smoke and fire was issuing from the 2.5 sty vacant dwelling. Due to the fire being intentionally set, the fire spread rapidly causing severe smoke and fire damage to the fire building. A near by exposure also suffered minor heat damage. The fire took approximately 20 minutes to control. No one was injured.
