BEACON (11 May 06) - The Annual City of Beacon Police Department Memorial and Award Service is usually one filled of Beacon's Finest receiving awards for protecting the city. However, at this years ceremony, Career Firefighter Romanelli received an award. While off-duty, Romanelli, heard the police chasing a suspect through the rear yards of his neighborhood. Romanelli then went into his rear yard and placed himself in harms way, tackling the suspect. For his assistance of apprehending the suspect, Romanelli received the Police Department's "Meritious Citizen Award."
