BEACON (13 Sept 05) - At about 1500 hours a first alarm was transmitted to the city for an apartment fire in Building 1 of the South Davies Projects. Upon arrival of City Car 33-1 (Chief Joseph), smoke was showing from a third floor apartment of the three story 75 x 25 occupied multiple dwelling.

The first due engine, 33-11, hooked to a hydrant and crews stretched one line to the fire apartment. The fire was knocked down within minutes and although there was smoke damage throughout the apartment, the fire was contained to the kitchen area. The fire was determined to be accidental in nature by the city fire investigation division.
