BEACON (13 Oct 00) - On Friday, October 13, 2000, at about 22:10, Beacon Fire Department and Beacon Volunteer Ambulance were dispatched to a possible working structure fire at the Forrestal Heights Federal Housing Projects. Upon arrival of Chief 33-1, he reported a 2-story apartment building with heavy fire on the second floor and in the cockloft. He then requested a second alarm be transmitted bringing Rescue 1 (33-55) to the scene and Village of Fishkill and Glenham for covers. About forty firefighters fought the blaze which took about fifteen minutes to bring under control. The fire was confined to the apartment of origin and is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
