BEACON (15 April 02) - On Monday, April 15, 2002 at about 6:15PM, the City of Beacon Fire Department and Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corp. were dispatched to a structure fire on 28 Church St. Upon arrival companies found heavy fire in the rear of the 2nd floor and through the roof of a 2-story 20x40 private dwelling. Village of Fishkill Ladder 1 (42-12) was also special called on the initial dispatch due to the city's ladder (33-45) being out of service. Command required a 2nd alarm due to fire condition and for covers to the city. The fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes and was confined to the 2nd floor. Mutual aid came from Glenham, Rombout, and Chelsea fire departments to cover the city.
