BEACON (25 Aug 02) - On Sunday, August 25, 2002 at about 9:45am the City of Beacon Fire Dept. and Beacon Volunteer Ambulance were dispatched to a possible apartment fire in building 6 of the South Davies Apartments. Upon arrival of fire command (Safety Officer Lahey, Sr.), heavy fire was showing from a 2nd floor apartment of the 3 story wood frame apartment building. The 2nd floor apartment suffered heavy fire damage, while the above 3rd floor and below 1st floor apartment suffered heat, water, and smoke damage. The other neighboring apartments sustained various minor damages. The fire is currently under investigation by the city fire investigation unit. S/C M/A from Glenham to scene for relief purposes.
